Sidney Alvin Kincaid, age 83, of Fayetteville, West Virginia, husband of Thelma Mae Kincaid, passed away on March 11, 2026.
Born on September 4, 1942, in Ramsey, West Virginia, Alvin was the son of the late Sidney Paris Kincaid and Yvonne Ramsey Kincaid. He was a member of Fayetteville Baptist Church for seventy-two years where he served as a deacon and chairman of the board of trustees of the church. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy and a member and past commander of the American Legion Post 149 in Fayetteville. He was also a former member of the Fayetteville Lion's Club. Alvin loved the woods, hunting, and was an accomplished woodworker.
Alvin served his community in many ways and was devoted to youth sports and was responsible for the establishment of the local Little League baseball fields and used his extensive experience in electronics to facilitate the installation of the lighting at the Fayetteville High School football field. He was long time employee of the telephone industry and led the digital integration of the Fayetteville telephone system.
Sidney is survived by his beloved spouse of sixty-one years, Thelma Kincaid, his son, Philip (Carrie) Kincaid of Fayetteville, and his cherished grandsons, Reid and Riley Zickafoose of China Grove, NC. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Melissa Kincaid Zickafoose. Survivors also include a brother-in-law, Jim Woolwine of Ocean Park, WV, a sister-in-law Rachel (Buren) Payne of Myrtle Beach, SC; two aunts Mabel Parrish and Lillie Schofield, two nieces, Leanell and Lorrie, and two nephews Lance and Jason.
A Memorial Service with military honors to celebrate the life of Alvin Kincaid will be held on Saturday March 21, 2026 at 1:00pm at Fayetteville Baptist Church officiated by the Rev. Jack Eades and the Rev. Doc Adkins. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Private interment will follow at the family cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Bowers Hospice House, 454 Cranberry Drive, Beckley WV 25801.
Alvin will be deeply missed, yet his memory will forever live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
