Richard Avis

Richard Avis, 58, of Fayetteville, WV, passed away unexpectedly on June 19, 2026 at his home. Born on October 29, 1967 in Oak Hill, WV, he was the son of the late Edward "Ed" and Estelle "Eckie" Avis.

Ritchie lived a life marked by kindness, hard work, faith, and love of family. He was a devoted husband, father, and paw-paw, whose presence brought comfort and strength to those around him.

Throughout his life he worked as a contractor and was known for helping anyone in need, his hard work, and dedication. He enjoyed fishing, camping, hunting, and four-wheeling. He was happiest when surrounded by his loved ones.

He will be profoundly missed and forever remembered by his wife/best friend Ada Avis, his daughters Dominque (Randy) Redden and Brentney (Ken) Lewis, grandchildren Tylan, Knox, Ella, Baby Randy, and siblings, brother, Edward and Linda Avis and sister Dorinda and Bill Fitzwater.

A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. Though he is no longer with us, his spirit will live on through the lives he touched. Forever loved and deeply missed.
