John Franklin Hindson III

John Franklin "Frank" Hindson III, age 75, of Fayetteville, husband of Diane Carney Hindson, passed away on April 29, 2026 at Charleston Area Medical Center.

Born in Oak Hill, WV he was the son of the late John Hindson II and Verna Hindson. Frank was a graduate of Beckley College and owned and operated Hindson Insurance for Nationwide with multiple offices in West Virginia.

Frank was a Mason and was recently recognized for fifty years' membership in that organization. He was involved in his community and served as a member of the Fayetteville Town Council and the Fayetteville Lion's Club and as a member of the Board of Directors of the Fayette County National Bank. He was a detail oriented and conscientious man, and these traits were demonstrated not only in his professional and community involvement but also in his collections of coins and stamps.

Survivors include his wife of 53 years, Diane Carney Hindson of Fayetteville, a daughter Lori Hindson (Roger) of Fayetteville; two grandchildren: Zane (Gracie) Hindson and Damien (Delaney) Hindson; two great-grandchildren, Colt Hindson and Senger Hindson. Frank is also survived by three sisters, Sally Hylton of Prosperity, WV, Elizabeth (Dr. James) Lewis of Huntington, WV, and Mary (Charlie) Brown of Charlotte, NC. In addition to his parents he was also preceded in death by his beloved son, John Franklin Hindson, IV.

Funeral Services for Frank Hindson will be conducted in the chapel of New River Gorge Funeral Service, 350 W. Maple Ave., Fayetteville on Sunday May 3, 2026 at 3:00pm by Joe Layne. The family will receive friends two hours prior to the service. Burial with Masonic Rites will follow in High Lawn Memorial Park, Oak Hill.
