Jean A. Wilson

Jean Ann Wilson, age 92, of Fayetteville, passed away peacefully on August 23, 2026, at Fayetteville Healthcare Center. She was a Christian and attended the Baptist Church. Jean Ann was adopted at an early age by Fayette County Sherrif Charles A. and Anna B. Conley. Jean Ann was founder and co-owner of Combs Funeral Home in Gauley Bridge with her first husband, Gene Combs. She was an avid bowler for many years bowling every Thursday night with the Women’s League. Every year she attended state and national tournaments across the country. Jean was a dedicated WVU football fan.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husbands, Gene Combs and Smythe Wilson along with a daughter Marilyn Thompson. Jean Ann leaves behind four children to cherish her memory: Kim Houghton, Sherri Turnbull (Mike), Chuck Combs (Becky) and Nancy Shumate (Steve). She is also survived by nine grandchildren, several great-grandchildren and a special half-brother and best friend, Gail Siers (Barb).

Thanks to Fayetteville Health Center entire staff for their exceptional care and kindness they showed every single day. The family would also like to thank New River Gorge Funeral Service and John H. Taylor Funeral Home for their compassionate care and respect and support.

Per Jean’s request no services will be held.
