Jackie Lee Horrocks

Jackie Lee Horrocks, age 83, of Fayetteville passed away on September 1, 2026 at Raleigh General Hospital. Born in Beckley, WV on March 12, 1943, he was a son of the late Thomas Horrocks and Anna Shuff Horrocks. 

A graduate of Morris Harvey College, Jackie devoted many years to serving the children of Fayette County as an educator and principal of East End Elementary and Beckwith Elementary Schools. He served as the Scoutmaster of Boy Scout Troop 179 and led a group to Philmont Scout Ranch, a high adventure base in New Mexico. Mr. Horrocks was a long-time member of Fayetteville Baptist Church. 

He is survived by his loving children: Sheila Maynus, Michael Horrocks, and Brian (Debbie) Horrocks; his cherished grandsons: Gary Tiller, David Tiller, Jack Horrocks, Joe Horrocks, and Joshua Horrocks; as well as his beloved great-grandsons, Edwin Tiller and Riley Tiller. Jackie is also survived by his brother, Gleason Horrocks. Jackie was preceded in death by his loving wife of 55 years, Mary Sue Horrocks in 2019. 

Funeral services for Jackie Horrocks will be held on Saturday September 5, 2026 at Fayetteville Baptist Church, Fayetteville, conducted by the Rev. Ron George and the Rev. Rick Watson. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the funeral at the church. Burial will follow at Huse Memorial Park, Fayetteville.
